Cabin HVAC design is an essential area of analysis for modern vehicles, particularly for xEV architectures where energy usage of the HVAC system is a crucial outcome. Using human occupant thermal comfort as a design target is enabled by TAITherm plus the Human Thermal Extension. There are many design considerations and variable input conditions to consider, including human factors such as physiological size, activity level, and clothing. Given the large matrix of possible inputs and the desire for efficient simulation processes, should the human position be another critical input?
Join us as we explore this question using TAITherm, Human Thermal, and RapidFlow. We will look at three different human positions in a cabin cool-down scenario and analyze the results to determine whether position affects sensation and comfort. Considering the study results, we will conclude with best practices for setting up cabin simulations for energy and comfort analysis.
